Meet Bob! 

Teaching Philosophy: I approach teaching with a student-centered philosophy in mind. I try to ask the student what kind of music they like and create exercises and lessons based on that.

​Experience & Specialties: My primary instrument is tuba, and I specialize in low brass, including tuba, euphonium, and trombone. I also teach beginning piano, beginning guitar, and bass guitar, as well as trumpet.

My musical experience began at Franklin Heights High School, where I performed in marching band, jazz band, concert band, and orchestra. I was honored to receive the John Philip Sousa Award for my musical accomplishments.

After high school, I toured locally with Swing Machine, a big band, playing bass guitar. I then continued my studies at Capital University, where I performed in the Wind Symphony and Capital Thunder, a tuba and euphonium ensemble. While at Capital, I transitioned to tuba as my primary instrument in both ensembles. In the spring semester of 2026, I also performed trombone in Capital University's Lab Band, a jazz ensemble.

In addition to performing, I have several years of experience working with student musicians. I have served as the band camp low brass coach at Franklin Heights High School for three years and Westland High School for two years, helping students develop their technique, musicianship, and confidence on their instruments.

​Why I Love to Teach: I love teaching because you get to see a student make progress as a musician and as a person through something they are passionate about. 

Fun Fact: A fun fact about me is that I enjoy cooking and woodworking in my free time.
