Meet Erik! 

Teaching Philosophy: I believe your musical path belongs entirely to you. I am not here to force you down a pre-mapped road; my goal is to help you discover your own. Together, we will find the approach that works best for you, equipping you with the tools, guidance, and confidence needed for your unique journey.

​Instead of using a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum, I adapt my approach to match each student's unique goals and learning styles. We won't just focus on the mechanics of an instrument—we will dive straight into the art of making music. By focusing on fundamental concepts, you will gain the theory and knowledge necessary to express yourself musically on any instrument you choose.

​Experience & Specialties: Guitar and bass are my primary instruments, complemented by experience in other stringed instruments like mandolin, banjo, and ukulele. My musical background spans a wide range of genres: I began with classical training as a child, spent a decade performing in a heavy metal band, studied Jazz guitar in college, and have played professionally in dozens of musical theater productions. I also have extensive experience with woodwinds; while I don't teach them regularly, this background allows me to help students who want to diversify their broader musical abilities.

​Why I Love to Teach: I have a genuine passion for sharing knowledge. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student grow, both as a musician and as a person. Whether I am volunteering as a youth sports coach, teaching my own kids to cook, or helping a student deepen their love for music, teaching brings me immense joy—and it continuously inspires me to keep learning, too.

Fun Fact: As early as 4 years old, I started begging my parents for a guitar.
