Meet Kyle!

Teaching Philosophy: I tailor my teaching approach to each student’s interests. I strongly encourage my students to explore various types of music, using their favorite songs to teach them about drumming. I emphasize the importance of learning to read music, an underrated skill in playing the drum set, before guiding them on how to transcribe and write their own charts. My goal is to equip my students with a diverse set of tools to help them succeed in their drumming endeavors.

What They Teach: I teach everything related to percussion, including drum set, concert snare drum, and marching percussion. 

Experience & Specialties: I graduated from Grove City High School, where I was a 4-year member of the marching band and concert bands, and also a member of the jazz band, percussion ensemble, and show choir combo band. I have taught students of all ages, from 8 to 65, in whatever style they desire, including rock, jazz, classical, marching, and religious. Previous students of mine have secured spots on their school's drumline (Grove City High School, Central Crossing High School, and Westland High School), passed their initial school band audition (Hayes IS, Park Street IS, Franklin Woods IS, West Jefferson Middle School, and Miami Trace Middle School), have earned 1s at OMEA Solo and Ensemble events, and have become the principal drummer for their worship band at their church. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Capital University in 2025. 

Why They Love Teaching: After seven years of teaching, it never gets old to see the joy on my students’ faces when they finally grasp a challenging concept. I take great pleasure in watching my students thrive in their musical journeys, whether it be in marching band or starting their own band!

Fun Fact: I am a huge fan of live music. I go to many concerts a year, across many genres. In fact, my first concert was seeing the band Rush (with drummer Neil Peart) at age 8.
