Meet JP! 

Teaching Philosophy: I think it’s most important to help kids achieve their specific musical goals, and to do that by explaining to them how each step of the learning process will carry them forward in their journey, even if it doesn’t always feel like it! But I also think that it’s important for lessons to remain fun, it’s impossible to learn anything new if you’re too stressed or overwhelmed.

What They Teach: I teach guitar, piano, ukulele, and sometimes voice! I really like teaching music theory and classical piano, but my favorite genre of music to play is probably indie.

Why They Love Teaching: I think what I love most about teaching is seeing things click into place for a student, watching their face light up with understanding after they’ve put in the hard work and taken some time. I also love to see my students’ love of music grow, and watch them become more passionate about the subject.

Fun Fact: I’m a singer-songwriter! So not only do I teach and play music, but I write music too!
